Middle level ICT integration

 Middle level ICT integration

Today we talked about PhEt stimulation and did activities on circuit using it. It is a new knowledge for me thus I enjoyed manipulating the wire and bulbs in computer. It feels quite realistic and helpful specially to the modern students with more ICT knowledge.

It is a software that can be helpful in teaching student topics related to school subjects using ICT. From my point I found lot of advantages while using PhEt in classroom teaching because of how realistic it feels.

PhEt can also be useful because there is less safety risk associated to it compared to bringing the original items in class. For example while teaching about circuit it can be quite risky to use wires, bulbs and batteries in classroom with large number of students however, using PhEt in teaching reduces the risk. It can be cost effective as we needn't buy the materials required in the lesson to the class practically. It not only promotes concept learning among children but also ICT lesson. PhEt promotes learning in fun ways.

Unlike the traditional style of teaching, PhEt involved ICT integration in classroom for fun learning. It is student centered and students take responsibility of learning. In traditional learning students are not given opportunity to express their creativity and focus on the concept thought by the teacher however in PhEt students use their own creativity to express the ideas and their knowledge.

Middle level of ICT integration here mainly talks about using simulation lessons to engage learning. In this level learners are actively engaged using various ICT integration methods. We need to use this level of ICT integration in classroom because it is similar components to lesson planning such as introduction, body part and assessment. It also involves record keeping which will help us keep tract of the student's performance thus making it easy to prove feedbacks.

Lesson plan using PhEt.

Name: Mon Maya Raika.             Course: B.Ed 1B

Class: PP                                         Class Strength: 31

Subject: Math                       Time: 45 minutes.

Topic: Numbers.

Lesson Objectives:

By the end of the lesson, the student should be able to:

  •  recognize numbers from 1 to 5 after the activities carried out in the class. (Cognitive domain)
  • write numbers 1 to 5 correctly after they exercises in the class. (psychomotor domain)

  • count at least 5 random items after the discussion in the class. (Affective domain)

Lesson Introduction (10 min)

I will greet the class and ask the pupils a few questions about their feelings such as “How are you feeling today” before starting the class. I will also ask if they are tried so that I can carry out refreshing activities before starting the lesson.

Now i will be asking how many fingers they have in their hand thus making them relate the number and concept of counting.
slowly i will explain to them that the numbers of fingers that they have can be represented by numbers.

 Lesson Development

- Information input/Lesson presentation. (15)

I will use cubes and stones to explain about the concept about numbers from 1 to 5.

I will help students count their fingers and give them few examples of counting. Then i will use scaffolding to let them write the numbers in their book. first i will write the numbers in the board then include the students and write the numbers together with instructions provided by me. Finally i will let the students to practice by them selves.

I will use air writing technique to help those students having hard time to write numbers.

 Learning Activity/Monitoring. (15 MIN)

Activity: Using PhEt to let the students learn about it.

I will flash my laptop in the screen and open PhEt, since the students are too young, they may not be able to use it by

themselves and high number of students in class will be difficult to manage by myself thus i will be flashing it in

the screen for the whole class.

I will ask about their predication before increasing the number on screen to ask what the results would be.

letter correcting them if they make wrong predications. The screen will look as following:

Closure. (5min)

Query the pupils about any additional inquiries and doubts regarding the topic.

Give them few questions to solve at home with the help of their parents.
