Digital Citizenship

 Today we learned about digital citizenship which is very important in today's generation of technology. 

I personally feel that with the development in technology and AI, using of technology can be very risky and dangerous. Many commercial businesses are carried out through online platform these days so basic knowledge of being a digital citizenship is not only important for young generation but also for all the elder people. Digital citizenship not only play virtual role in protecting one's privacy but also in promoting good communication and collaboration among people.

Digital citizenship refers to the ability to engage positively, critically and competently in the digital environment. Digital environment here involves not only using social medias for texting but also uses of various websites for information. It is like a guideline for using the digital technologies responsibly and productively.

Some of the characteristics of good digital citizenship are, protection of personal information that requires setting good passwords and not sharing personal information on the internet or to other people. Browsing safe sites for information is also one of the characteristics of digital citizenship, it will help people to avoid being hacked and getting valid information regarding the topic. Digital citizenship should be responsible users of technology and respect other users.

As a future teacher I believe, teachers play a very important role in making young students aware of digital citizenship. Teacher can act as a carrier of information about the digital citizenship to share it to their students. Teacher plays a very important role to promote digital citizenship through teaching nine elements of digital citizenship in the class. As mentioned in first element digital access, teacher play a role in providing students the digital resources that are required in the classroom such as computers and internet connections. Teachers also play a vast role in making students intelligent consumers thus avoiding scams that they can face. Teacher can make students aware of using good skill of communications while using social medias to avoid cyber bullying. Teachers play a very crucial role in fostering the implication of nine elements of digital citizenship on the student's life.
